Adoption Assitance Program

If you have an animal that you need to relinquish ownership of for any reason the Cherokee Humane Society will assist you in advertising, screening, and locating a new owner.

We do this by advertising the animal in print media, radio, and on the Web. We advertise on petfinder.com, our web site cherokeehumanesociety.org, and classified ads in various web newspapers. We also advertise on The Post Web site, The Post Newspaper, Weis Radio Web Site, and the Cherokee Herald. We publish a monthly flyer that is posted on bulletin boards of veterinarians, groomers, restaurants, retail establishments and corporations.

What is expected of the Pet Owner?

Pet owner must bring animal to Adoption Center for evaluation and photos.

Pet owner must agree to keep the animal until an owner can be found.

The animal must be healthy and current on vaccinations.

Pet owner must make animal available when prospective new owner is found.

The Humane Society will spay/neuter the animal before animal is adopted.
